Environmental aspects of Voronezh City Master Plan

The City of Voronezh is the administrative center of Voronezh Region and the center of Central Black Earth Region. The city covers a territory of some 60 thousand hectares, its population reaching 1 million.
The aim of the research has been creation of an environmentally sound project with respect to the legislative requirements and vital interests of the citizens, a project to provide facilities for the city's sustainable development in relation to environmental protection and conservation. The principal customer was the Administration of Voronezh City. The team of SHANECO specialists was involved in the project for the period of one year.

The following jobs have been done within the scope of the project:

• Component-specific assessment of the present environmental condition;
• Component-specific assessment of the purposed Master Plan activities' environmental impact;
• Analysis of the main design decisions of the Master Plan from the point of view of formation and development of urban natural recreation areas;
• Environmental assessment of main design decisions of the Master Plan;
• Zoning for environmental restrictions of the use of urban areas;
• Working out a list of environmental protection activities.

The best scientific and methodological practices were used in this research—both domestic and foreign ones. The Master Plan has been created subject to present political, social, demographical, economic, environmental, and cultural conditions.
